Vitamin B6 is mainly involved in protein metabolism and is needed for the conversion of amino acids. It also plays a decisive role in the formation of haemoglobin and bile acid.
In addition, vitamin B6 helps strengthen the nervous system, boosts the immune system and is involved in the production and effect of many hormones. Without a sufficient supply of vitamin B6, up to 100 enzymes in the body cannot function properly. These in turn are crucial for important metabolic processes. Vitamin B6 is particularly essential for amino acid metabolism. In this process, amino acids are converted into the body’s own substances. These include messenger substances such as serotonin, dopamine and histamine. Dopamine and serotonin play an important role, for example, in feelings of happiness.
